Today went back for 2 weeks reservist. I was one of the many who were forced to trim hair by the barber first thing in the morning. Some were even told to dye their hair black. Looks like this is going to be a tough 2 weeks with outfield exercise.
Anyway, fiak the reservist.
I reckon the best place to watch concert in Asia is at Hong Kong Coliseum 香港體育館. I watched the S.H.E Live@HongKong DVD many times already and their fans were really superb, much more happening than ours.

Just one simple glance from her was enough to make me question myself if I've ever really loved anyone before till that glance.
Paid a premium for the first row seats and I got more than I asked for when they made thier round among the audiences off stage. Can't believe she make me so nervous and flustered that I've completely forgotten to change my camera mode as she whizzed past right in front of me. The best moment of the night came when I got to touch her on her shoulder!
90% of the time throughout the concert, my eyes were fixed on her and only her. Another 5% on Selina's hot dance and the other 5% on their guests' performance.

I'm on course this week but I think 90% of the time, I wasn't paying attention to the trainer. Feeling abit guilty but at least I managed to complete all practical exercise after every topic so not that bad. Another valuable IT cert to my collection.

How often do you get offered a salary higher than your alraedy high expectation at a job interview? My friend who graduated with double major in Finance and Business from NUS last Dec was offered 4.6K as her starting salary by one of the major European bank.

He's a gangster in the mtv but towards the end, he said something very meaningful after seeing her holding a child's hand:

Supposedly, she got married with another man while he was in jail.

Some ppl have been asking for this long overdued post. I hardly have the time to do a complete one but this is good enough...
The TV stations estimated 500,000 people gathered at Taipei 101 tower for 2007 countdown. Also, there were many stars performing there on that nite as well!
Squeezing with 500000 people in an area as big as city hall is no joke!
Above pic: This was the scene inside the MRT station platform after the countdown and AFTER crowd control. Only a limited amount of people were allowed to enter every time a train arrived. To get to this part is already a big challenge! A simple 150m route to the MRT station took us 2 hours.
All those hassles were worth it just for 188 seconds of breath-taking fireworks. These pics really don't do justice to those magnificent stuffs I saw that night!
Love river at Kao Shiung. Nothing much to do at Kao Shiung and the air quality is damn bad. Taichung has the most concentrated amount of beauties and the air quality is the best. Taipei is second.

If diamond is a girl's best friend, you gals should watch 'Blood Diamond'. Watched this show at Genting last weekend. The best seats in the theatre are those with massage chair which cost only RM$15, still cheaper than our local weekday price.

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway.
My question is: Would you have made the same choice?
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"
The audience was stilled by the query.
The father continued. "I believe that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child."
Then he told the following story:
Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.
Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."
Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.
However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.
The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.
Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.
Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball ... the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.
All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay"
Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!"
As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.
"That day", said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world".
Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!
A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

I’m back
This trip was better than the previous one in 2005 in some ways except I missed the opportunity to meet Hebe in real person. So near yet so far.
I was among the 50000 at the Taipei 101 building countdown. The fireworks were awesome! Will post pic soon
=== Although more like a vacation but the main purpose for the trip was for a business meeting with the distributor of a small business venture I started with some friends in 2005. This was our 2nd meeting with them and it more than exceeded my expectations on our negotiations. Successful! But some might already know I ain’t so keen anymore…
=== We took an airport bus to our hotel upon arrival at Taiwan. The seats in the bus were located on the upper deck and luggage compartment on the lower deck. I was given a matching tag for my luggage for collection later on but I lost it and wasn’t allowed to collect when we arrived at our destination. My friend told the driver if I can open lock on the luggage means it’s mine but… I’ve forgotten the number combination when I tried opening it!
In the end, I’ve got no choice but to search for the tag on the bus with many pair of eyes staring at me. It was then found to be sticker-ed to the back of my jeans!
Back at the hotel, it took me and my friend literally 988 tries to unlock it. The correct combination is 988.

I reluctantly boarded the plane today. I called the SIA office in Taipei to postpone my flight but due to the 4-to-go package, I can’t change unless the other 3 change together. Unfortunately, they have to be back by today so I went to purchase a one-way ticket returning from Taipei on Sunday for myself thinking that they can return without me first.
All these efforts just becox S.H.E will be signing autographs for their fans who bought their new album at Xi Men Ting at 1 pm (my original flight was at 1.40pm). I found out about this only on Friday when I enquired on their concert DVD at the music store. The one-way ticket was wasted as they were unable to check-in without me so I am back here on the originally scheduled flight. =(
